This painting is derived from a visit to the James Joyce cafe in Trieste, Italy. Irish writer Joyce lived there for many years in the early 20th century. My painting is a composite of three photos I took while sitting dead center looking at the bar. The minute I arrived I knew I had to paint it and that it had to be panoramic. A life size bronze statue of Joyce is located just outside of the cafe.
