She’s a dancing sprite: turning fast in fancy spins, singing sweetly whispered songs and full of stories. I’m good old grandma: on the porch above the pool, watching silently, like some ancient marble statue. ‘Here’s looking at you, grandma’ her waving feet say, back arched in spectacular dives, speeding breathless towards the bottom as I paint her toes and wait for her to surface.
