Palm Tree on Sprite Hood

My husband, Harold Flescher, raced cars for 45 years in SCCA.
He purchased a beat-up 1962 Austin Healy Sprite and made it a winner over the years. Finally, winning the National Championship at Mid-Ohio in 1995. I often did the victory laps with him. Since the car did not have a passenger seat, he made me one that I took with me, and our rivals hated that little chair because it was used often!
Of course, mistakes were made, and I decided to keep a crashed hood that had original detailing and use it as my canvas for a painting. Newly a Floridian, I decided to make it a combo of our old life and new.
Note: after returning from France on 9/11, we headed to mid-Ohio for a race, and we painted the hood with Stars and Stripes.
