For years, the husband of my closest friend raced his Austin Healy Sprite in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) competitions. When I saw a photo of him on a victory lap with his wife, Judy, holding the racing flag, I was struck with a feeling of joy, so I decided to paint it. I attempted to create a feeling of speed with the blurred landscape.
