On the very limit of motor racing - utmost focus is nothing short of necessity.

This piece titled "Red Hot Sunset" was captured during the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race - an absolutely iconic and historic race in the world of motorsport. It depicts a Daytona Prototype international (DPi) Team Penske Acura race car under heavy braking into the infamous turn 7 hairpin.

What I love about this moment was the sunlight bursting into the cockpit - you get an intimate glimpse into the otherwise chaotic environment a driver surrounds themselves in for many intense hours. You can imagine the intensity to which this driver has to focus on every single moment, and coupled with the intense glow of the brake rotors, wear and tear, and vivid motion it all lends itself to the grueling dance between man and machine.

This piece also marks a newer chapter in my photographic journey - to explore the more human and interpersonal in the experiences we made - whether it be a simple moment amongst others in the street, to one of the most intense sporting events in the world. The people make the stories.

This work is printed in my personal studio on Red River Palo Duro Baryta fine art paper, with archival pigment inks. It is signed on the framing mat, as well as on the back of the print.
